About this programme

Ishmael or Isaac? Two friends discover a difference in how they learned Abraham’s story.

Fakhar Anwar Safeer and Alan (Azi) Cutter compare the tradition they each grew up with. Their surprise is a small part of a longer, candid conversation about Jewish–Muslim friendship, faith and honest disagreement.

The full Talk Away discussion is linked as this Short’s Related video beneath our channel name. What is a question you have wanted to ask someone from a different faith?

Context for the passage: Genesis 22 names Isaac. The Qur’anic account in 37:102–107 does not name the son in those verses; Ishmael is the identification familiar in much Muslim tradition.
