About this programme
Is "super intelligence" (superintelligence) a better name for AI, or just marketing?
Three people who work with AI every day give their verdicts on the US government's new wording.
Fakhar Anwar Safeer asks about the US executive order that tells federal agencies to say "super intelligence". Rocco Capano says it is mostly marketing: it could be called Jarvis, what matters is what it does. Rezo Tateishvili says people will use it whatever it is called. Osteopath Alessio Zanghirati Urbanaz calls the name a bit presumptuous: AI can do loads of things, but in healthcare he still sees mistakes "a two-year-old would make", so we should be more cautious with such a strong word.
The facts: • Executive Order 14434 (White House, 29 Sep 2026) directs federal agencies to use "super intelligence" in their own communications to the extent permitted by law. It does not change any law. • The White House says the new term "more appropriately captures the promise, potential, and rapidly advancing capabilities" of the technology (Executive Order 14434).
